I just bought the USB wireless donggle and when I tried it on my bit PC, it didn't work because the "Vista certified" is only for bit version. There's no driver for the dongle and even D-link website has no work around. It's kind of frustrated to know this only after I bought it. I search through the net and found no solution but a lot of people out there are having the same issue that I have. After an hour or so, I didn't give up and finally I made it working.

Roberto Finasco Created on October 22, I have tried the Microsoft driver comes with Windows presumably, this tries to install when I plug the device in , the Ralink driver this is downloaded automatically by Windows when I ask it to search for drivers automatically , and the D-Link driver downloaded by me, the latest from D-Link. Getting Windows 7 to install any of these results in a time out after around minutes of "installing drivers". I have tried running the setup program that comes with D-Link's drivers, which I would like to avoid since I don't need their extra software and am happy with Windows' Wireless configuration, but this also takes a long time to install, before not working properly. If I pull the USB dongle out before driver installation times out, it completes. However, the device is disabled after plugging it back in, and re-enabling it either fails as in, it says "enabling", then message disappears, but it's still disabled , or it just takes forever to enable.
