When you install the printer following the instructions above, you have it all. Thank You, Napoleon Vance. Hello Rick Pudgy one? I have been in the middle of a nightmare with Dell, especially for the last 3 weeks. I will pass the details. I have a dell printer AIO and dell dimension bought in I have windows XP professionnal and office XP.
I am very strict in updating very regularly. Ram memory is now 4GB Things were going ok with the printer except cleaning the cartridges very often and wasting a lot of ink with these cleanings,. It just stopped working about 3 or 4 weeks ago: I can copy documents, but I cannot print neither scan. For me it sounds and looks like Steve topic. I wonder if you could help me. For the history, when I update with dell it says I am fine.
When I update with microsoft, in the options they recommend updating with an inkjet driver update, which I downloaded successfully after several trials..
It seems that some problems started after that Since I contacted Dell, I had to take additionnal warranties driver and software end of the life warranty.. I was told my computer was contaminated, and I had to buy portable hardrive, and they wanted to change OS. After several times with software and printer people, they removed and reinstalled a driver when dell tried to print it started but the paper jammed and after that I am told to check again with software people as there is a run time error They install a 2nd printer AIO 2.
Well despite my payment I am listed as out of warranty so I am waiting before recontacting software. Each time they accessed my computer for diagnostic. After 2 of these interventions I got an alert about artemis that I eliminated.
I found some help with a procedure about inkjets with a revision on august 20 I tried to follow the procedure got stock as at one time you need to restart the computer and then cannot go back to the process. Presently the situation is the following when I restart the computer I get the run time error: Please contact the application's support team for support for more info.
When I want to print a page, I see the icon printer coming in at the bottom right and disappear rapidly and nothing happens. I do hope you can help me as I see so many similaritiea with steve I apologyse for the computer terminology I used , I am a 65 senior who learned about computer by myself and I am at the verge to loose my sanity..
It rarely ends with a working printer unless we replace the printer. I know many don't want to know that after 2 years your average consumer printer is best replaced if it is so troublesome. You may also not want to know that it is too costly for a shop to test your printer.
That is, set it up on another machine. The service fees for that exceed that of a new printer. Consider what it costs to get support and compare that to the price of a new printer. Allowing Microsoft to update your drivers is not a very good ides. Run the patch, from post 2, until it prompts you to restart your computer. Install the XP drivers from post 2.
You should get a message saying the printer is not connected. At that time connect the printer. As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder.
This will install the OCR program. I see your point about Microsoft. I was so happy to find a possibility to find a solution to the problem. I think that I am going to limit the dowloading from Microsoft to the essentials recommended and stop using the optionals.
Is there a similar "trick" to getting this to work for the ? I don't want to have different patched, drivers, etc mixed on a post and then have someone install the wrong programs, especially the firmware, since it will make the printer a huge paper weight.
You have solved this problem for other Dell all-in-one printers and recommended separate postings to solve for different models. I cannot find any installation disc I had when I got the printer so I have been downloading latest drivers for the Do I need to completely uninstall and if I do what is the install process that gets me the center back?
Thanks in advance michelangelo3. I did get it working. The process had a little trouble locating some dll's and ini's but I found them in a back up that I had done some time ago.
I don't know why I had trouble locating them but that was likely because I did not know where to look. Anyway, the All-in-One Center is back and I successfully scanned some pages so I believe the fax capability will work too.
Again, many thanks for the help. Hi - This worked perfectly. Thank you for this information. However, after applying the below steps, my XP Professional Dell computer is now running very slow. Have you run into this before? Any suggestions on how to remedy? Run Malwarebytes and have it remove anything you have. Also what type of virus protection are you using. Some of them also slow down computers.
Do a full virus scan and make sure your computer comes out clean. You may also want to download HiJackThis and run it, then click on the AnalyzeThis button and post it in one of the proper forums. Hey PudgyOne, Keep up with the good info!
Thank You So Much!! Follow the instructions in post 2 here. If you need different drivers, let me know. Iwish you only good things.
There is a firmware for the printer. Install the firmware update after you have the printer connected. Hey PudgyOne, Sorry I'm so slow in responding but was on Vacation, everything worked perfectly till I got to the firmware update. The link you provided had an older firmware then the XP driver software included?
Should I downgrade to the older firmware or keep the newer one that came with the XP driver software package?
