I see many people complaining about these drivers, including myself. I lose a2dp connectivity everytime on standby. It seems the dongle makers are all shipping their own stacks, which could be toshiba, widcomm, bluesoleil, etc. The headset manufacturers have no idea which stack to support. Most of the time users seem to have non-microsoft stacks. This situation is not very condusive for them to support microsoft csr drivers for the microsoft stack.

In the end there are no bluetooth headsets which are windows 7 certified. The plantronics one supposedly don't require software, which is false. I think microsoft needs to take responsibility here, and provide drivers and support headset drivers, instead of yelling "is it on the compatibility list" each time, when none actually exist. I had trouble with the Bluetooth Bluedio drivers but I am also having problems with Samsung who no longer support my windows 7 3 year old laptop with revised drivers. My solution is to go direct to the provider in this case Broadcom who own Bluetooth. I downloaded the latest set of drivers from them and the headphones worked straight away. From what I hear here, microsoft support is referring to the manufacturer of the headset.

But If you buy a dongle, it usually specifies "a2dp" support. It would make sense if the dongle providers would make the profile drivers, as they can be dongle specific. For instance with the csr a2dp drivers, which seem only to work on csr chipsets, but I don't know for sure. They never, ever ship profile drivers for the microsoft bluetooth stack.

Show me a counterexample. I would suggest you to contact the manufacturer to know whether they have drivers or not. Using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly.

It seems microsoft refers to headset manufacturers. It seems headset manufacturers refer to the dongle makers. If any mobile device including Android, IoS can be connected to these bluetooth headsets. Microsoft is struggling with it's drivers inventory. Thanks for marking this as the answer.

The other Bluetooth protocol providers such as Bluesoleil and Boradcom Widcomm all require the dongle companies to "subscribe" in order to get access to their updated protocol.

It has been widely posted elsewhere that other "frustrated users" have "adapted" the newer versions to the older dongle.

Bought a headset , Kogan DJ Pro. Windows advise me I need a driver??? If Windows doesn't have or can't find a driver that is required, then check on the support site of the manufacturer of the actual device to get the driver from them. The manufacturer of the device should provide any required drivers for it. Did this solve your problem? Sorry this didn't help. No driver for the headphones should be necessary.
